Pricing and How to Buy

Once you've decided on an office trailer, you'll need to decide how you want to pay for it: buy or lease. The biggest determining factor is how long you're going to use it: buying a new office trailer only makes financial sense if you'll be using it for at least 5 years. Most of the time, new portable offices are sold to construction contractors and other professionals that will use them at multiple jobs over time. You can expect to pay $15,000 to $40,000 for most standard trailers.

A smart compromise in many cases is a lease-to-own program. Essentially it's a type of financing provided by the dealer: you make a manageable monthly payment, and at the end of your lease term – anywhere from 1 to 10 years, depending on the type and size of the structure – you'll have the option to purchase the structure for a small buyout price.

Office trailer pricing
Office trailers are fairly consistently priced – within a similar size range, they tend to be fairly comparable. Sure, you'll pay more for a trailer with extras like better HVAC or furniture, but they tend to fall into some general ranges based on size.

The standard office trailer – the 12' x 60' singlewide – can rent for $300 to $500 per month, depending on the extras and your location. Smaller trailers can be had for as little as $100 a month. Try not to squeeze your employees! It makes business sense to spend an extra $50 or $100 per month for a more spacious trailer, if that makes your employees more productive.

You'll pay installation fees of anywhere between $300 and $5,000, depending on what kind of extras you need. Adding skirts to hide the wheels, multiple staircases, and electrical and plumbing hookups will all push your costs higher. And you'll have to pay another $200 to $1,000 when it comes time for removal.

Delivery costs for office trailers can be $2 to $6 per mile, depending on width. And of course if you lease the trailer, you'll have to pay these costs twice – once for delivery, and again for removal.
