Modular buildings blur the line between permanent and portable buildings. While they're often fitted with wheels and axels for transportation, those are usually removed once the building is delivered, making installation semi-permanent.

Once installed at your location, modular buildings can be almost indistinguishable from traditional site-built construction. For long-term use and the best overall appearance, modular buildings are the best type of prefab construction.

These buildings are almost entirely constructed in a factory. The frame, insulation, interior walls, carpet, wiring, and more are all built out before the modular building is delivered. Factory construction is much faster than traditional construction, thanks to an absence of weather delays, no transportation issues with equipment or supplies, and a working environment that's more consistent overall.

Even though the modular building is created before it gets to you, you'll have the chance to specify many details of its construction, including basic layout, lighting, interior finishes, and utility connections for HVAC, electricity, and plumbing.

If appearance is important, there are many options available to improve the look of the exterior. Different types of façades, siding, and roof options can help make your modular building look more like a "regular" building. And don't underestimate the power of landscaping: while a modular building may look awkward when it's first installed, adding walkways, trees and shrubs, and other finishing touches can really make it blend in with its surroundings.

Talk to modular building suppliers about your needs and they should help you decide what features and components are right. The best suppliers will have experience delivering modular buildings for many common uses, including portable classrooms, general office space, retail stores, and clinics or other health care applications.

Your best approach is to meet with at least 4 or 5 modular building suppliers so you can compare their recommendations, services, and prices. We can put you in touch with multiple modular buildings suppliers, completely free.
